Quartz, Solid Surface, natural stone (a lot more varieties than just granite) and glass chip by the slab. Or throw a change-up and go for laminate or wooden counters.

Quick differences between the materials
Glass Chip: Bright, cheerful and whimsical, but be aware they slot among Exotics in price. Chips can go AWOL at the edges.
Laminates: Outside of finding clearance tile in the corner of a Big Box, laminates are the least expensive option. And with hi-def patterns so accurate they’ll fool many people at a glance, customers can use the savings to stretch more for the cabinets or floors they want. Hundreds of colors are available.
Natural Stone: There are thousands of designs pulled from the Earth, and each piece is unique. There’s a wide range of pricing, from the lowest prices for stones, to slabs that might take two Amexes. Most stones will need periodic sealing.
Quartz: Nearly half of all countertops are made from quartz, which really grew in popularity once manufacturers learned how to mimic marble without the scratching or staining. There is a wide range of pricing. And the slabs are hypoallergenic.
Solid Surface: Another hypoallergenic option, most have calm appearances, though bright colors are available. They can be a bit muddier than other stones, but sinks being integrated is a plus.
Vanities: Pre-made countertops will have quick lead times, come in various materials, and can offer integrated sinks. Prices are good in smaller counters, but lose that advantage as sizes increase.
Wood: An understated elegance. Dozens of species are available, some with live edges, others traditional butcher block made from various shades. Wooden countertops with painted cabinets, particularly islands, have been popular lately.
Solid wood tops. Kind to a knife, repairable with sandpaper, and the one surface that looks better after a few years of use.

Every slab in the Classic collection is 9' x 5' and 3 cm thick, recycled glass set in cement, and rated for indoor and outdoor use. Vetrazzo publishes no price by color, so that is the one thing you have to ask us for.
Every piece is made to order. Bring the measurements and an idea of the color, and we will work it up.
The budget that leaves money for the cabinets. Modern laminate holds a convincing stone print and an edge that no longer gives it away. The most convincing are the high-definition ranges, Formica’s 180fx and Wilsonart’s HD, which print the veining at the scale of a real slab instead of repeating a small tile of it.

The quickest top we sell. Tell us the sizes and we can usually turn it around fast. These ranges run to far more colors and patterns than any page can show, so come and see the ones we sell most of on the showroom floor.
Granite, marble, quartzite and other natural stones. Quarried, so no two slabs are the same, and that is the whole appeal. There are other stones available, but these are what you’ll often see at the yards.
GraniteThe least fussy of the group. Sealed once a year and it probably shrugs off a hot pan.* The widest range of colour and movement, and the easiest to find a big slab of.
MarbleThe one people fall in love with. Softer and more porous, so it marks and patinas, and the owners who love it love that too. Worth seeing in person more than any other stone we sell.
QuartziteReads like marble, wears like granite. Harder than both, and it moves fast when a good slab lands. Paradoxically denser than granite but fragile at its veins, so often will need reinforcement.
SoapstoneDeep and matte, and it darkens as it ages. Non-porous, so it takes heat without flinching* and needs no sealing at all.
TravertineA limestone formed at hot springs, so it is full of small natural voids. Usually filled and honed for a counter. Warm, soft looking, and it wants sealing and a little care.
SlateDense, dark and properly matte, with almost no shine to it. It takes heat well* and does not mark the way people expect. Greys, greens, purples and black.
LimestoneQuiet and even, with far less movement than marble, so it reads calm rather than dramatic. Soft and porous, so it will patina, which is either the point or the problem.
ExoticsThe one-off slabs. Labradorite, agate and the heavily figured stones no two yards stock alike. Usually bought the moment somebody sees one, because the next slab will not match it.
* While the possibility of heat cracks is less for some of these stones, one bad day could turn into a very bad terrible day, so we still think you should have a trivet made from the excess slab.
Come and pick the slab. Tell us the room, roughly the size and the look you are after. There are no color charts for these, so we will send you out to the yards, and you will go around with their experts to pick your exact slab.

A sample is cut from one piece of a slab, so it cannot show you how much movement runs through the whole thing. That is why most manufacturers print a photo of the full slab on the back of their samples, and it is why clicking a color here opens the full slab rather than a bigger square, wherever the maker publishes one. A screen still cannot settle a countertop: the same slab reads warmer or greyer depending on your light, your floor and your cabinets, which is why the samples are in the showroom.
The Color grouping is ours. Look, Pattern, Slab size and Price are the makers’ own published words and figures, so a brand appears under a filter only where its maker publishes that field. Caesarstone, Hanstone, Pental, Revera, Silestone and Wilsonart are shown from our own showroom photography rather than from a manufacturer’s catalogue, so their cards carry no look or pattern and show the color family alone. Caesarstone publishes a size, thickness and finish per color, and where it does our card carries its own; a few of its older colors have no published size, and those cards show none. Cosentino publishes for the Silestone line as a whole: two formats, a Standard and a larger Jumbo. Those cards show the Standard and say the size varies, because planning against the smaller slab is the one direction that cannot leave you short at the saw. Their slab size and thickness now come straight from each maker’s own published specification. Where a maker publishes a figure for each color, that color carries its own, which is why those cards do not all read alike: Wilsonart lists one current slab size per design, and Pental prints an average size per color. Where a maker publishes one figure for a whole line, the line carries it, and Hanstone makes every quartz slab as a 65″ x 130″ jumbo. Three Pental colors are published at two different sizes, and Revera is sold in several. Those cards show the smaller figure and say the size varies beside it, because planning a room against the smaller slab is the one direction that cannot leave you short at the saw. Finish is not on a Hanstone or a Wilsonart card because neither maker publishes it per color: Wilsonart makes the line polished and in Natural Matte, Hanstone polished with leather and river washed on selected colors. Every one of them is on our floor and we will quote any of them, so call us or come in and we will pull the slab and measure it with you. Price is listed per brand, and that is deliberate, because the makers who publish one are not counting the same thing. Cambria rates each of its colors against the rest of the Cambria range, from Classic at $ to Grandeur at $$$$$. Daltile rates ONE Quartz as a whole line, at $$$ on the same five-dollar scale it uses for granite, marble and quartzite, so all of its colors carry that one figure. A $$$ from one of them is not a promise of the same price as a $$$ from the other, so putting them on a single scale would have compared two numbers that were never about each other. Wilsonart ranks its own designs from $ to $$$$$ the same way, on its own published scale. Seven of its colors are in its Quartz Select collection, which Wilsonart prices as a group instead of ranking, so those cards carry no dollar rating at all rather than one we guessed at. Ask us for a real quote and we will price the actual slab. For Slab size Cambria names its two: a Jumbo at 132″ x 65.5″ and a Standard at 122″ x 55.5″. Daltile publishes a size per color for ONE Quartz, nearly all of them 136″ x 79″. For eight of those colors Daltile’s own answer is that the size varies, and those eight cards give you both answers: the 136″ x 79″ comes off our showroom records, which is the figure Daltile itself prints on almost every other color in the line, and the “size varies” beside it is the maker saying it does not guarantee that on these eight. Plan against the slab we quote you, not against the card. The size sits on every card that has one, because that is where you compare it. It is a filter only for Cambria, because every ONE Quartz color that publishes a figure publishes the same one, and a filter with one value has nothing to sort. Lines that come in two, three or four sizes join the filter as we photograph them. Thickness is on every card that publishes one, because it decides what a slab can be used for. 3cm is the usual depth for a countertop. 2cm is often used for vanities or for a slab backsplash. 1cm and 6mm are the thin ones, typically used in showers. Cambria lists 1cm on some of its designs as a minimal lead time item rather than a stocked depth, so ask us before you plan a job around it. Half slab is Cambria’s own tag, and it sits inside Slab size because a half slab is cut from a Jumbo rather than being a size of its own, so every design offering one is also listed as a Jumbo. Cambria publishes it per thickness and not every design offers both, which is why the half slab names its own thickness beside it. A half slab can save a second full slab on a long vanity or a job that needs just over one slab. Call us for a quote on any of them.

Each manufacturer’s display holds a finite number of samples, yet they add new colors every year, so they end up pulling the lesser sellers. If there is a specific sample on our site that you want to see, please contact us to make sure we’ll have it here for you.

Quartz is the top selling countertop material, and it is the one you can browse in full before you ever drive over. Granite is still a high-end look that adds to your kitchen's value while giving you a durable prep surface.
Natural stone is sold by the slab rather than by brand, because every slab is different. That is exactly why it is worth coming in to see the one you are actually buying. Engineered quartz is the opposite: it is consistent, so the line you pick is what you get.
Our contractors have great reviews, but they’re not the least expensive. So if you’ve found someone else you’d rather work with, we understand. But come back to us for your products; you’ll be glad you did.
Most contractors are busy, so they offer preset packages. They won’t be bad, but they won’t be you.
